I love it when I receive a text message from my dad saying he's in town and would like to meet me. My parents never got married or lived together, my dad was 21 yo when I was born, he always helped financially but never was around when I was growing up. We became close when he started having problems with his wife, he called me and some times even stayed at my place for a few nights. He finally got divorced and moved to another city, but some times he comes to visit me.
